This community of cocoon-like dwellings is clustered high above the floor as if for protection from predators on the ground. The cocoons are visibly empty, waiting for inhabitants that may or may not return. The delicate stems that stretch down to the floor highlight their elevation above the height people can easily access, implicating us in their vacancy.
