The black lines of To Paraphrase are multiplied by the shadows they cast, increasing their frenetic, expansive energy. Their enigmatic, three-dimensional shorthand alludes to a shared understanding that, despite our best efforts, remains just out of reach. The shadows appear almost as solid as the paper-coated wire. They are silhouettes replicate and distort the original, similar to how meaning gets distorted and misunderstood over time and with repetition.
