Unrequited Heirlooms - 2019-2020

This installation was part of the my solo show for the 2019-2020 Wind Challenge exhibition and grant at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia. In these sculptures, clumps of paper-coated wire spheres grow in mitosis-like expansion over their gestural steel skeletons. Their reaching movement and clustered growth promise a vivacious transformation that is belied by their stained and peeling paper skins. The stretch out toward each other as if trying to expand beyond their own physical limitations.
